Just Nuisance was the first and only dog to be officially enlisted into the Royal Navy during World War II. A Great Dane, Nuisance was a stray who was adopted by sailors based at Simonstown, near Cape Town. He became a trusted friend of the sailors and accompanied them on their trips into the town's bars enjoying a beer and the company of ladies. He was also known to have had a particular dislike of officers and paid little attention to rules and regulation on the base.
Today Just Nuisance has a statue on the promenade in Simonstown SA and this rock band from near Milton Keynes in England is named, appropriately, after him.
